Massage Therapy and Weight Loss
Not only massage therapy, but acupuncture and acupressure are various methods of weight loss that are being explored and enjoyed by many these days. At least it’s not some pill that says “Hey you can lose 5 pounds a minute if you just take this pill and eat anything you want”. I can’t even stand it.
Will a Massage Squeeze Me Into That Bikini?
No it will not. It’s going to take a lot more than massages to get you into that bikini, let’s face it. Can it help? Absolutely. What weight loss-massage therapy does is basically enhance your efforts. Rather than being thought of as something that the rich and famous treat themselves to on a daily basis, with all the other pampering they somehow manage to fit in; massage therapy for weight loss can result in increased reduction of weight. If you’ve graduated to working out a little bit—or even more than a little bit—a massage is the perfect way to relax those muscles and get the stretch and relief you may have forgotten about at the end of your workout. Shorter recovery time for your muscles is accomplished with the increased circulation of a massage.
Science Weighs In
Scientific studies have been done that prove that weight loss-massage therapy can work. Once again, just lying on a massage table is not going to do the trick. Subcutaneous tissue contains fat capsules. When a weight loss-massage is executed correctly these fat capsules burst. Fat is then absorbed through the body’s natural absorption system and excreted as waste. We’re talking cellulite here, people! Who needs that? Improved skin texture and body contour, even if no weight loss is accomplished, are also pleasant side effects of properly executed weight loss-massages.
But remember—you have to exercise and diet accordingly (or at the very least eat healthfully).
